Privacy Policy
What we collect when you use this site, why we collect it, who it is shared with, and how to ask us to delete it.
The short version
We collect the details you type into the enquiry form so that we can reply to you about a building. We collect anonymous analytics about how the site is used so that we can improve it. We do not sell anything to anyone, and we do not send marketing to people who have not asked for it.
The rest of this page sets that out properly.
What we collect when you contact us
If you submit the enquiry form, we receive the information you put into it: your name, your phone number, your email address if you choose to give one, the service and timeline you selected, and whatever you wrote in the message field.
The form also records some technical context automatically, so that we can respond usefully: the page you submitted from, its title and address, the service or location that page relates to, and a timestamp used to filter out automated submissions. There is a hidden field on the form that only automated systems fill in, which we use to discard spam.
If you call or email us instead, we hold whatever you tell us in that conversation.
What we do with it
We use it to reply to your enquiry, to prepare a quotation, and to carry out the work if you go ahead. Where you have asked us about a specific building, we may keep the details so that we can pick the conversation back up if you return to it later, which on building projects is often a year or more.
We do not use enquiry details for unrelated marketing. If we ever want to, we will ask you first.
Where enquiry data goes
Form submissions are transmitted to a Google Apps Script endpoint operated on our behalf and recorded in a Google spreadsheet that only we have access to. That means Google processes the data as part of providing that service, under their own terms.
We do not sell, rent or trade your information. We share it only where we genuinely need to in order to do the work you asked about, for example with an engineer preparing your truss or foundation design, a licensed electrician quoting your service, or the permit authority that needs your project details on an application. Each of those receives only what is necessary.
We will also disclose information where the law requires it.
Analytics and cookies
This site uses Google Tag Manager, which loads analytics so that we can see how many people visit, which pages they read and roughly where they came from. That involves cookies and similar technology. The picture it gives us is aggregate rather than individual: it tells us that a page is useful, not who read it.
Every page also carries an embedded Google map in the footer. Loading that map means Google may set cookies and receive technical information such as your IP address, under their own privacy terms rather than ours.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can use browser or extension level controls to block analytics entirely. The site works perfectly well with all of it blocked, and nothing on it is gated behind accepting cookies.
How long we keep things
Enquiries that do not turn into work are kept while there is a reasonable prospect of the conversation resuming, and are removed after that. Records relating to work we actually carried out are kept longer, because we may need them for warranty, insurance, tax or regulatory reasons, and because a building we put up has a long life and questions about it can arrive years later.
Analytics data is retained according to the settings on the analytics platform rather than held by us directly.
Security
The site is served over an encrypted connection and form submissions are transmitted encrypted. Access to the spreadsheet holding enquiries is restricted to the people who need it.
No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise. Please do not send us anything highly sensitive through a web form. If you need to give us financial details, call us instead.
Your choices
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, or ask us to delete it. Call 701-929-7717 or email quotes@fargopolebarnbuilders.com and we will deal with it. We will not ask you to justify the request.
If you have asked us to stop contacting you, we will stop. The only exception is where we have a live contractual obligation to you, in which case we will still need to communicate about the work itself.
Children
This site is aimed at people commissioning building work and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information through this site, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes and contact
If we change how we handle information, we will update this page. Where a change is significant, we will say so here rather than quietly amending the text.
